The Treasure of Namib Desert is a guided journey that follows part of Namibia’s Atlantic Coast before heading inland to the heart of the desert. The Namib Desert stretches for more than 2,000 km along the coast and is known for its red sand dunes and wide desert spaces. This tour is designed for travelers who want to understand the desert, enjoy open landscapes, and visit Namibia’s most famous natural sites.
Swakopmund to Namib Desert
The tour starts in Swakopmund and continues toward the Namib Desert. The distance covered is about 420 km, with a driving time of around five to six hours. You leave Swakopmund just before sunrise with your guide and travel along the coast before turning inland on the C14 road. The goal is to reach the Namib Desert around midday.
Along the way, the drive passes through the Kuiseb and Huab Canyon areas, where dry riverbeds and rocky terrain show how water once shaped the land. These sections of the drive give insight into the harsh desert environment and its long history.
Once inside the Namib Desert, you explore key highlights such as Sossusvlei, Deadvlei, and Sesriem Canyon. This tour suits nature lovers, photographers, first-time visitors, and travelers looking for a deeper desert experience.
Activities include walking through the white clay pan of Deadvlei to see the dead trees, visiting Sesriem Canyon and smaller hidden canyons, and exploring the Sossusvlei desert area with a guide. Sunrise dune visits allow you to climb Big Daddy or Dune 45 for early morning views. Scenic drives pass through desert landscapes and the Tropic of Capricorn. Game drives may reveal desert-adapted wildlife, and nights in the desert offer clear skies for stargazing.
Meals and accommodation are not included in this package. If you would like these added, you can consult with our representatives to arrange suitable options.
